Use Case at the Pick and Place Robot
Pick and Place robots can move an item from one location to another with a high speed and accuracy. A repetitive human task is thereby fully automated and increases the production efficiency.
Root Cause Analysis with the Help of Video Recording
However, what if the robot fails to grip the products or misplaces them. If the robot stops working, the consequence could easily be a production stillstand.
In case this happens, a sophisticated root-cause analysis has to be done to make sure the fault does not repeat. But what is the underlying cause? An item could have the wrong dimensions, is placed incorrectly on the conveyor belt or the robot is falsely programmed.
Video monitoring is one way to find out what actually happened during the process. Possible solutions are to implement a permanent vision system programmed for each robot. That is a very intelligent but also very cost-intensive solution. Another possibility is to simply mount a camera temporarily, for example a GoPro, which is not a big investment but also requires a lot of time to analyze the video manually.
