Use Case at the Packaging Line
The packaging line commonly includes the process steps of wrapping the product in the packing material, placing the single units in boxes and transporting those boxes to the palletizer.
Root Cause Analysis with the Help of Video Recording
Usually many different types of products and sizes of boxes get processed on the same line. Therefore, stuck packages, broken boxes and all kinds of faults happen which cause the packaging line to stopp. The difficulty of finding the underlying reason is the high speed of the process which makes it hard to see for a human to watch the process the whole time.
Also packaging lines are very long and faults can occur in many different places. As a consequence of the high time pressure, operators focus mostly on getting the line running again and not on analysing the root cause of the fault.
For that reason, a flexible camera, for example GoPro camera, is an appropriate tool to record a video of all problems which happen during one shift. But when applying this method frequently, you will realise the uncomfortable workflow of moving large data files from camera to the computer and spending a lot of time searching for relevant 15 seconds in an 8 hour video.
